This is actually a follow up to yesterday’s episode because I forgot to talk about it.  If you don’t carry a weapon for defense or have no interest in it, you may not get much out of this, but if you do….then I think you’ll enjoy it.  Have a good weekend!

Highlights of what I talk about:

  • The difference between carring concealed vs. “covert”
  • My thoughts on how to carry your weapon
  • Clothing to wear when carrying
  • What type of belt to use
  • Magazine capacity…is it important?
  • Overpenetration, is it an issue?
  • Do you need more training than just the CCW license course and why and from whom?  (Suarez International)
  • Material from a pistol instructor who contributed to today’s show

This is a great topic. Bob mentioned the appendix inside the waistband carry as a way to go. One benefit he missed is the ability to reach your pistol with either hand. Should your strong hand be tied up defending yourself or otherwise, the weakhand can still get to it. That is very difficult from the strongside hip and small of the back.

I’ve been to a speach by Col. Dave Grossman and have it on CD. If you have a CCW you should carry, all the time. Col Grossman is where I first heard the sheep, sheepdog and wolf analagy. Without your weapon, you are just another sheep, only you have a piece of paper in you pocket (CCW) to show the bad guy.

  2. Dan thank you for the feedback. I didn’t know the name’s were being displayed like that. I’m relatively new to producing podcasts but I do know how to change that. Starting with Episode 10 you should see “episode10.mp3” as the name.

Thanks for listening hope you’re enjoying the shows.

You need to label these podcasts better. You have the computer file named episode8.mp3, which is ok when looking at it as a computer file, but the podcast’s ID3v2 tag (the one that displays the podcast name in my mp3 player) titles the podcast simply as 090820_002. It would be better to go ahead and ID3v2 tag the podcast as episode 8 rather than just 090820_002. Thanks!
