I picked this subject because I have not heard it discussed much in the survival/prepper world.  It seems to only be discussed in self defense forums, podcast and TV/Radio shows.  I happen to think it’s a very good survival skill and a form of self defense that doesn’t require to you carry a gun.  Plus, I also picked this subject to talk about the future of our survival and that’s our kids and young adults.

Highlights:

  • Martial Arts for kids, how it helps them with the survival mindset later in life
  • How to pick the type of Martial Arts and school for your kid
  • The different disciplines and what they mean
  • How to pick the right MA school
  • Myth busting:  I bust some myths about Martial Arts and why they are not “violent”
  • How it creates better self esteem than most other sports
  • Why the self defense aspect of Martial Arts is not the main reason to study them
  • Mixed Martial Arts,  MMA – my review
  • Preview of Episode 13:  Helping your kids learn basic personal responsibility/prepping mentality, money management, cooking, gardening, raising animals
  • Krav Maga
  • Video on using Krav Maga when they pull a gun on you!

  1. Thank you for listening Lisa and look for more of this on Monday! All the best, Bob

What a great post about ways to get our kids prepared. I think it all falls into the category of purposeful parenting. We’ve chosen to get our kids involved in activities that teach hand-eye coordination, overall fitness and teamwork over the latest video games and gaming systems. If times get tough, couch potatoes are going to be in no shape, mentally or physically, to deal with the serious challenges of survival.
