After the podcast today with Bob on First Aid Kits, I thought I would post some pictures of some of mine to give you some examples of what is in them.  I am missing a few items in some of them, but you will get the idea of what I keep in mine.

I hope you enjoy.  Grin

If you have any questions, post them and I will try and respond to the best of my abilities.

NOTE:  I am NOT a Doctor, I put in my kits what I am trained and know how to use. Please get the proper training and know what is in your kit and how to use it.

You will have to SCROLL at the bottom to see the whole picture or click the link to open the pic.   Grin

Yes and No.  Depends on which Doctor you ask.  Some say its ok, others hate it.  Mainly because people dont know how to use it.  Alot of people think its ok for minor cuts and cuts they just dont want to go to the hospital and get sutured.

Its for a last resort to stop major bleeding.  Something that you would die if you didnt do something.  With most cuts the bleeding can be controlled with pressure and a dressing until you can get to a hospital.

They do have some decent tests of it in use on Youtube.

Nice job guys. One of my favorite podcasts so far. Quikclot should only be used to save a life in the face of major uncontrolled bleeding. As Ghostrider has already pointed out, most bleeding can be controlled with pressure and dressing. Quikclot works by corterizing the wound blood vessels to stop bleeding and therefore burns. Better than bleeding out out. Good post.

Thought I would pass this along. I am going absolutely crazy while recovering, so I had the wife take me to Dicks Sporting Goods a few days ago. I headed for the camping section. When I came to the isle with the first aid kits, I was surprised and delighted to see they had Quik Clot sponges hanging on a peg. I was so excited, I bought 3 of them one for each kit. Its the first time I have ever seen any Quik Clot items in a retail store.

I also recently read, that Quik Clot has been reformulated so that very little heat is generated when its applied.  So if you have been looking for a local outlet for QC products, check Dicks Sporting Goods.
