Me too, linked it on Facebook and on my blog!

Fairly decent coverage of this phenomena and made clear distinctions between modern survivalists/preppers and Doomsday Cult type weirdos. I appreciated that, because I can guarantee you that I keep my preps covert, and you'd never know I was "ready to roll".

The lady in that article is actually The Survival Mom, who is a member here and a sponsor of Bob's podcast. Cool huh?

Thanks for that link, and thanks to the Survival Mom for showing that preparing for anything is not an extreme thing to be doing, but a natural and responsible one.

The more i see links like that, the more i see the tide changing. It used to be seen as the survivalist as the strange one, now i think it will be viewed the other way around.

Why would anyone not want to prepare to look after their loved ones?

CX good points and great question. The sad part is aprox. 92% of "sheeple" have what I call the ostrich syndrome. If they bury their heads in the sand whatever bad is happening will go away. Most also think that the government will come hold their little hands and make the bad things and people go away. To them Hurricane Katrina never happened of the "right wing" extremists made it out to be worse than it was. The list of excuses is endless. Most of the problems that people believe this way I blame on the media. They think anyone that tries to be ready in the event of................... are extremist McVey type nuts. You and I each know that in most cases that is not the truth. Most preppers like you, I, the survival mom, and 99.9% of everyone else here just want to make sure our loved one's are taken care of. So we Prep, we make sure we keep a roof over their heads, we keep food in their bellies, we keep clothes on their backs, we try to educate them and keep them safe from harm, we buy auto insurance just in case....... we buy health insurance just in case....... we buy life insurance just in case....... SO we prep............ JUST IN CASE!

It gives me hope when a main stream media outlet actually does a story on prepping without the decidedly left wing slant to the story that usually condems that kind of thinking.

If I can help just one person to obtain the knowledge that will save their life or the life of a loved one. Then I will know that the time and work I have invested was and is worth every minute spent.

I saw the story off the Lew Rockwell site.  I thought it was a good article too.  I'm considering sending it to my parents but am not sure.

I liked the article, but don't read the comments section unless you have a high tolerance for idiots.

The Survival Mom was interviewed again, this time on the radio, along with the lady who wrote the original Newsweek article in New Hampshire. Check it out
