Preps really helped me out when I needed them nearly two months ago. Or at least made things a bit easier. I was on a major highway heading north in stop and go traffic at the mouth of an off ramp when a guy rear ended me. The car in front of me was stopped, so I was stopped and I got hit. Pulled over on the side of the ramp, got out checked for damage and found some. It was just a bumper kiss, but caused enough damage. I used my cell phone to take pictures of the accident scene, plus all the damage to my vehicle as well as his. Then I called state patrol since the area we were pulled over in was pretty risky. They helped us move to a safer location, and helped with paperwork. I used a tiny notebook and pencil to give him a copy of my info, and I got his info. I love tiny notebooks and keep a few in my glove box. An hour and a half later I was back on the road.

Things worked out pretty well considering I WAS in an accident.

Glad it was just an accident and you're OK.  Tiny notebooks is a great idea.  Business cards work well for that too if you have them.  Always keep a loaded cell phone with you (I didn't make that up, Chaz from the http://roadgunnerpodcast.com/ did.  Nice post.
