Thanks for sharing this story with us. Good on you for being armed and for being able to keep a cool head throughout the event even after realizing you had been shot. My only hope is that I would be able to do as much if faced with such a scenario. Glad they caught the guy, I'm sure it was a relief to know he was off the streets.

Thank you mjollnir. I am the epitome of the ordinary average guy and I assure you if I can do it, so can you. I figure I kept "cool" as you say only because it happened so fast that I didn't have time to think about it. Preplanning I think was the key, it was almost more like muscle memory. I learned to preplan when I was a Firefighter. Guess that is where practice and thinking about "what if" scenarios paid off.

Yes, we are very relieved that the BG is now behind bars. Not so much for our benefit, but that now we "know" for sure he will not be attacking anybody else.
