I have a set of twins (Boy and Girl). They are 8 and have been shooting since they were 6. I started them out with BB guns. Then moved up to 22LR.
We used to walk in the woods for squirrels him on point with his BB gun me in the rear with a 22 and her walking with me and picking flowers. The time you spend together is more important then what you do.
Now he has a Marlin tube fed, a Browning Buckmark Rifle in 22LR as well as a Sig Mosquito Pistol in 22LR.
She has a Synthetic Ruger 10/22 that I did a nice Pink Camo Pattern on.
He has always liked shooting his guns and is advanced for his age.
She has just really gotten into it withing the last year or so and she is catching up fast but he knows more guns.
She likes to show off when your little girl friends show up and we shoot.
He on the other hand likes to shoot with the big boys and likes to be involved.

Safety is always important.

Absolutely outstanding!
Mine is still a bit smaller than your clan, but we've already got our Red Ryder ready for when she's older.  She's 4, but knows her safety rules (based on Eddie Eagle), and will learn the big 4 when she turns 5.
I absolutely agree that time together is more important than what you do with it.  Bravo.
