Episode 63 – Fiscal Sclerosis, the government’s bad disease

Fiscal Sclerosis is the government’s bad disease.  This show is not about politics but about the misdeeds of the U.S. government no matter what party they belong to.  It affects our every day lives whether we want to admit it or not.  In this show I discuss what the permanent fix is to this epidemic. It also effects our survival.

Highlights:

  • What is Fiscal Sclerosis?
  • 6 significant causes of this governmental disease
  • How our government has signed a bad 50 year contract
  • Reality based analysis of our government’s financial practices
  • The tone deaf reaction from Washington
  • The miniature revolutions that take place every 2 years
  • The hall of shame of people who are part of the problem
  • What if our Congress took a 50 year nap?
  • “The only shame is to have none.”
  • How we made history in 2009
  • What would happen to a business if it signed a 50 year contract?
  • THE SOLUTION:  Individual responsibility

  1. Wow! Just read the article, it’s very concerning. Thanks for posting this. Yikes….

I agree completely with your viewpoint, especially on taking personal responsibility. Now for the scare of the day, check this out: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/31/watchdog-bailouts-created-risk/

  3. Extremely good points and thanks for posting this! I guess my point was that the men who fought and won the American Revolution were standing up against the abuse of power we have today. Especially the financial abuse of power. Taxation without representation. It seems to me within the last 50 years or so, those abuses have become worse and the checks and balances systems have been subverted more often than in the recent past. We the people have put up with it also, adding to the problem.

Your comments and command of history is excellent and you are correct. Thanks for your objection. I think we can both agree that our situation here in America is worse than it’s ever been? And that the fiscal irresponsibility is more reckless than it’s ever been? Beginning with the establishment of Social Security as a permanent part of the Federal budget and the expansion of Medicare entitlements. And now with the pork projects and earmarks out of control, it appears unstoppable. It appears our government has mortgaged us so bad, we will never pay it off. Out congress has indeed, committed to funding projects 30 – 50 years in advance.

Therefore, individual responsibility is in my opinion, the only permanent answer. Declaring our own independence and running our financial lives in an opposite manner of our government, is the only answer.

Your command of history is great and it’s one of my weak subjects. I wasn’t trying to give a history lesson on this show, but trying to make the point that I believe our government is un-fixable.

Thanks for listening and I welcome objections and comments like yours. It creates a great discussion!

I have to make objection to the idea that fiscal irresponsibility, and unscrupulous deal-making has gone back 50 years in this country. 50 years ago this sort of stuff started? A modest knowledge of history would be hard to find any era when this was not the case. The American experiment stands uniquely posed to overcome tyrannical schemes to subvert an otherwise wholesome concept of government, but human nature is what it is. From the Easter Islands, from Egyptian empires, from Roman empires, from the beginning of time… since man walked earth the struggle for power and influence has been accomplished via the mechanisms that are in play today in this, and every government, organization, community, corporation. Laws do not correct, personal ethics do. Unfortunately universally accepted ethics and morals are not only unacceptable and rejected in the corporate and government arena, but are also punished for adhering to. Stand up in a board meeting at Monsanta and scream: “This is not right”. Stand up in a board meeting at Microsoft and scream: “This is unfair!”. Stand up in a Republican or Democrat senate strategy meeting and scream: “This is not representative of our constituents!!” See where it gets you.
