Episode 146 – Cooking for survival.

Can you cook? Would you agree it’s a preparedness skill to be learned? I’ve always been a big believer that what you know is just as important as what you have. So in this episode I discuss alternative methods of starting fires for cooking, foods to cook in wilderness survival and what to teach kids about cooking. I also get into the importance of cookbooks, utensils, stocking your home or bug out location with cooking supplies, fishing and cleaning and eating fish and a lot of good stuff about different methods of cooking. Thanks for listening and enjoy the show. Bob Mayne, Today’s Survival Show

I have used the… http://www.cancooker.com/ I was surprised, it worked well. Cooks on any heat source. Real simple, just layer the food in add liquid and throw on the heat.

  2. You’re right I forgot about that.

Great show! I’d offer that practicing methods of cooking is important. Cooking long and slow and damp (slow cooker, sun oven, dutch oven). Over a flame and so on.

Of course cooking is a survival skill. I’m constantly amazed at the people who have no cooking skill. It’s a little scary.
