Episode 155 – Survival Footwear, Survival Tip #1 of the week.

Footwear is so important and often neglected. What I mean is that too many people try to equip their feet with poor quality footwear. Don’t you think that in an emergency you may have to spend a lot of time on your feet? So I decided to discuss the importance of what type of footwear to have in various survival situations. I also cover a little bit about insoles, boots, walking and hiking shoes, socks, getting the right size boot and my battle with Morton’s Neuroma. The inspiration for this show came from a great article called “Proper Footwear for Survival”, by Seth King. It’s a very reasonable article on survival footwear and I suggest you read it. Thanks for downloading and listening. Bob Mayne, Today’s Survival Show

Bob, Great podcast! You are absolutely correct with the need for proper footwear, regardless of what you are doing. If you don’t take care of your feet, your feet will not take care of you!

  2. Gene says:

I make it a habit, that unless i am attending some special function; i am always in a pair of boots that would work as well for survival wear or bug out wear as they do for everyday chores.

  3. Well thanks for your feedback. I didn’t know the statistics which you speak of.

    Bob,
I’m new to your podcast audience, but so far I’m enjoying it. I might not agree with everything you say, but you provide some very good thinking points and present your material very well. With regard to survival footwear I think you shouldn’t be too quick to disregard the cheapo footwear. A study done on runners found that injury rates go up in correlation with the price of running shoes. In other words runners with more expensive shoes had higher incidences of running injuries. Bargain priced footwear may just be better for our feet. Food for thought. Keep up the good work, I look forward to your future podcasts.

    Respectfully,
    Scott
